Follows Kimi K3 as the default Kimi Code workhorse: close to K3 coding quality with more efficient thinking, default max effort, and 1M context for every membership tier instead of K3's Allegretto-and-above 1M window.
Release Summary
Moonshot AI's Kimi Code coding model, rolled out in place on the existing kimi-for-coding API ID. Official docs place overall coding and agent performance close to Kimi K3, with more efficient thinking than K2.7 Code. Supports the same reasoning_effort levels as K3 (low / high / max, default max). Image and video input, plus a 1M-token context window for all membership tiers. Thinking-off requests to K3 and K2.8 Preview are served by K2.8 Preview without thinking. Available in Kimi Code CLI, VS Code, and third-party tools via the Kimi Code API. Billed through Kimi Code membership quota rather than a published per-token card.
