GPT Live 1

Released on July 8, 2026

Release Summary

OpenAI's premier full-duplex voice model for real-time conversations. It listens and speaks at the same time, handles interruptions without waiting for a turn to end, and delegates reasoning and tool use to a backend agent such as GPT Terra 5.6. First shipped in ChatGPT Voice (paid default; GPT-Live-1 mini is the free-tier sibling), then launched in the API as gpt-live-1. Voice sessions cost $0.05 per minute, billed per second; backend model and tool usage is billed separately. Speak reported almost 80% fewer interruptions versus previous turn-based systems.
