GPT Live 1.1

Released on October 15, 2026

Changes from previous version

Replaces GPT Live 1 as the paid ChatGPT Voice default on October 15, 2026. Production-prompt safety scores stay at parity. Synthetic evaluations show regressions on sexual content, mental health, emotional reliance, and gore. Developers still call gpt-live-1.

Release Summary

OpenAI's next full-duplex voice model and the default ChatGPT Voice model for Plus and higher tiers, including Codex and Dots. It listens and speaks at the same time and delegates reasoning to a backend model, as GPT Live 1 does. GPT-Live-1.1 Quip is the default for other users and succeeds GPT-Live-1 mini. On production-prompt safety evaluations, OpenAI reports parity with 1, with no statistically significant regressions. On synthetic prompts, 1.1 regresses on sexual content, mental health, emotional reliance, and gore relative to 1. The API model remains gpt-live-1 at $0.05 per minute. OpenAI does not publish an API id, token price, or context cap for 1.1, so the catalog keeps the GPT Live 1 session window.
